Regular Transportation
Transportation is provided for students who live at least 1 ½ miles from their neighborhood school. are established in accordance with òòò½ÊÓÆµ School District Transportation Department criteria.
Special Needs Transportation
Transportation is provided for students as a related service and part of the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). For more information, see Transporting Children with special needs, an informational guide for parents, teachers, school bus drivers and attendants.
Hazardous Routes
Transportation is provided for students who must walk across or along an unsafe roadway that has been designated "hazardous" by the òòò½ÊÓÆµ School District Hazardous Transportation Committee and the òòò½ÊÓÆµ. The Committee evaluates areas based on the Hazardous Transportation Guidelines.
Field Trips and Activities
Field Trip and Activity Transportation is also provided by school buses for school related activities. Students are transported to athletic events and to locations around òòò½ÊÓÆµ and Southcentral Alaska to pursue educational opportunities. The Transportation Department dispatches approximately 6,000 field and activity trips annually.
