Middle School Gifted Opportunities

  • Exit from the Gifted Program and IGNITE
Students are exited from the gifted program and IGNITE at the end of elementary school, except for those attending the Highly Gifted programs at Romig Middle School and West High School. Families interested in acceleration and enrichment opportunities should inquire at their neighborhood middle school.

    Highly Gifted at Romig
Students who qualify for the Highly Gifted Program at Romig Middle School are placed in language arts and science classes with only other highly gifted students. This allows teachers to tailor instruction to meet both the academic and social needs of highly gifted learners. For more details, please refer to Romig Highly Gifted.

Qualifying students must have a reading achievement score at or above the 96th percentile and a verbal ability score at or above the 98th percentile.
    Continuation from Rogers Park
Students who have been successful in the Rogers Park Highly Gifted program do not need to retest for Romig.
To allow sufficient time for scheduling, Rogers Park Elementary staff will confirm with families during third-quarter conferences whether their student will continue in the Highly Gifted Program at Romig.
Enrollment for Highly Gifted at Romig
Students who qualify for the Highly Gifted program but did not attend Rogers Park Elementary must apply for the spring or fall Romig HG Lottery and accept within the ASD lottery timeline.
    Transportation
Transportation is not provided for zone-exempt students attending Romig Middle School and/or West High School.
